Please Come to the Party!

The minireunion on the weekend of May 18-20 is coming up quickly; we hope you've saved the date on your calendar. Don't forget to make a hotel reservation if you're coming from out of town.

We have selected the Colonial Inn in Concord center as our "home base" for the weekend. Anyone coming from out of town will be able to make reservations at the price of $149 per night for a room at the hotel. The Inn's web site is www.concordscolonialinn.com. The reservations phone number is 978-369-9200.

Weekend Schedule

As usual, we'll start off with a happy hour drop-in at the Colonial Inn, from 5 pm on Friday, May 18. Just come in; our presence will be obvious.

On Saturday, May 19, at 10 am, our program will feature Dotty Stoneman talking about her life and work since high school. The program will be in the community room at the Chenery Middle School, on the site of what was 'our' junior high school. Coffee and doughnuts will be available.

Later in the day, from 4:30 pm on, we adjourn to Dotty's home for our annual party. Please note that we're asking you to either bring a potluck dish or to make a contribution.

To raise funds for our 55th reunion, we'll have a raffle plus a silent auction of art works created by our classmates. What fun to be able to take home something made by one of us - and how interesting to learn of the avocations that many of us have adopted later in our lives.

Finally, we'll end with brunch on Sunday, May 20. We have a reservation at the Colonial Inn, which has a fabulous buffet brunch.
The Colonial Inn is "fine tuning" their Sunday breakfast/brunch offerings. We will have exclusive use of the Middlesex Room from 9AM until 2:30PM. The Inn is doing a special "BHS Class of 1959" menu, with two or three choices for an excellent breakfast for under $15. This menu will be available from 9-11AM. But most of us seem to be interested in the Inn's spectacular Brunch, which will be available at $31.99 running from 10:30 - 2:00PM. Since most Classmates seem to be planning on the Brunch which starts at 10:30, we expect the largest group of classmates to be there from 10:30-Noon. This will be a great way to finish off the Reunion weekend. If you need to leave earlier, the Inn does offer an a la carte breakfast starting at 7:30AM.

It's very helpful for us to know approximately how many people will be attending . If you plan to be at any or all of the events, please let us know by contacting Regina, or email Bill Clark.

Silent Auction at the Mini-Reunion

As mentioned above, we will have both a raffle and a silent auction at the party. The silent auction will include a few very special works of art donated by classmates. We thought it would be only fair to allow classmates who are not able to attend the mini-reunion to still bid on these items. Please click here for details.

Al MacLeod sends his greetings from Arizona!

Belmont High Hockey Star Meets Boston Bruins Hall-of-Famer, the best hockey player of all time. If you don't recognize them, it's our own goalie, David "Moon" Mullin and our all-time favorite Bruin, Bobby Orr. This meeting occurred over the Thanksgiving weekend in Stuart, FL, where Dave stayed at Orr's condo.

Sandy Karlson visited recently and the highlight of his trip was his private visit to Fenway, where he had asked to touch the Green Monster.

Human rights activist honored at Cape event

Dorothy Stoneman was named Woman of the Year by WE CAN, a nonprofit organization helping to empower women to change their lives. The seventh annual conference and awards ceremony was held at the Wychmere Harbor Club in Harwich Port on Thursday, June 2. The Cape Cod Times had a nice article on Dot and a few of the great things she has done to make a difference in our world. Thanks to Martha Parks and Paul Larkin for letting me know about this fine tribute to a wonderful person! And we knew her first!

Another great Mini-reunion weekend!

The Sixth annual Mini-Reunion/Spring party happened May 20-22, and it was another fine time! We had (I think) 69 total that attended at least one of the events. We had a new hotel this year, the Marriott in Burlington, and I think it worked out very well. We started with an informal gathering at the FitzWilliam Pub at the hotel late Friday afternoon going into the evening. Saturday morning something new was added, as we met at the Chenery School at 10 AM for a talk by Stretch reflecting on our time at BHS and the years after graduation. The talk was fascinating, and there was time both before and after for visiting, eating donuts, swilling coffee, and general catching up. This also allowed some ad hoc groups to form for lunch, sightseeing, etc. before the Big Party at 4. Once again Dotty and John opened their house Saturday evening, and once again I was amazed at the fun, fellowship, and good time everyone seemed to have! Coach Stone dropped in for a while which was a special treat. Sunday morning we finished up with brunch at the hotel.
